Calibrating the Projector
The goal of calibrating the projector is to perfectly reproduce the natural colors on the screen and to manage all of the potential settings.
THE BEFORE/AFTER IMAGE BELOW IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF THIS
The type of screen used but also the dominating colour and the brightness of the room directly influence the resulting colours on the screen. The factory settings of the projector, sometimes unreliable, often deliver colours that are too saturated and lack natural clarity or lack details during dark scenes.
To calibrate a projector, one needs a professional external colour analyser pointed at the screen, a sight generator capable of delivering calibrated signals and finally the usage of a specific software to analyse the results and refine the settings. This task can last several hours.
We begin by adjusting the brightness and the contrast, meaning, the grey scale, because 97% of the cells in our eyes see in black and white. It is only after this that we speak about the colorimetry, but this is where our expertise comes into play...
